About Ileana D’Cruz

Born into a Goan Catholic family, Ileana was raised partly in Mumbai and partly in Goa. After finishing her schooling at St. Xavier’s, Goa, she completed her graduation from the University of Mumbai. Ileana D’Cruz was just 18 years old when her career took off. Now the age of Ileana D’Cruz is 35 years. Initially, she was into modelling and later, she landed in South and North Indian films.

Ronaldo D’Cruz, Ileana’s father, is a mechanical draftsman and her mother, Samaira D’Cruz, is a designer. One brother Rhys, her elder sister, is Farrah, and her younger sister is Eileen D’Cruz.

In the initial years, Ileana’s mother used to work in a hotel. The manager of that hotel suggested to Ileana D’ Cruzthat she should get a photo shoot done and set up a meeting with Marc Robinson. While Ileana claims that her first portfolio was a disaster, she still gained much attention through ramp walks. After a year, she had already bagged three major commercials, and Fair and Lovely were one of them.

Here is when Rakesh Roshan spotted Ileana and offered her feature films. Ileana made her debut in the Telugu industry with the film Devadasu, a super hit. She earned praise from the audience as well as the critics. For Devadasu, she had to take acting classes from Aruna Bhikshu. In her next Telugu film Pokiri, Ileana did outstandingly well, and the movie became the highest-grossing Telugu film.

The same year, she did Kedi, a commercial hit as well. Julayi, the movie in which she was cast with Allu Arjun, became a blockbuster and had a great response from all over the globe. While her success was at its peak, she successfully transitioned to Bollywood. In 2012, she did Barfi, which was indeed a turning point for her. This opened doors for other Bollywood movies like Phata Poster Nikla Hero, Main Tera Hero and Happy Ending. In 2016, Ileana did Rustom, which also got a fantastic response. Her latest movie was “The Big Bull” in 2021.
