The biography of Ekta Kapoor includes work and celebration as an Indian television and film producer. Born to a family of actors, her parents are the legendary Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor, while her brother Tusshar Kapoor is a famous actor.

Born in Mumbai, she studied at the Bombay Scottish School in Mahim and went to Mithbai College where she completed her degree of Bachelors of Commerce. Etka Kapoor began her career at 17 years of age. Her father helped her to start the television serial production company, Balaji Telefilms, where she first made three episodes and six pilots without success. Her success came, however, with the popular serial Hum Paanch.

A number of soap operas, TV series and movies have her as the producer. “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” aired in 2000 of STAR Plus. She has used the letter “K” as a mark of her series of TV productions, a unique creation that she claims has brought her success. Some of her hits include the following: Koshish Ek Ashaa, Hum Paanch, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kaahin Kissii Roz, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Her serials aired on Star Plus, Zee TV and Sony Entertainment Television.

With Bollywood calling in 2001, she produced Kyo Kii…Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta and Kucch Tou Hai in 2003. Krishna Cottage, based on a supernatural theme, had production in 2004. Kya Kool Hai Hum (How Cool Are We), which starred her brother Tushaar Kapoor, became one of the biggest hits of 2005.
