Early Life and Education
Pooja Kumar was born in St. Louis, Missouri, US, on 4th February 1977. Her parents, Ravinder Bhatt and Niruama Bhatt moved from India to the United States in 1970. She attended Parkway West High school in Ballwin, after which she attended Washington University and graduated with a degree in Political Science and finance.
Her parents wanted her to become an engineer or doctor, but Pooja had a passion for acting from a young age. She also attended classes and training for Classical Indian dances.
Pooja also attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she learned how to be an incredible actress and appreciated her love for acting plus her diverse talents.
Career
Pooja Kumar’s career started rising after she participated in and won Miss India USA in 1995. In 1997, she was signed for ‘Kadhal Rojave,’ a Tamil Kollywood film directed by Kothands Ramaiah. The film’s release date was, however, delayed to 2000.
In 1997, she had also gotten an opportunity to appear in ‘VIP’ and ‘Chinna Raja,’ two other Tamil movies. She, however, dropped out from the ‘VIP’ movie and got replaced in ‘Chinna Raja.’ This made her debut movie, the ‘Kadhal Rojave’ in 2000.
