Farms are intriguing, and the animals and activity occurring there often captivate the hearts and minds of those who visit. The U.S. is home to many native animals. Taking the kids to the farm is the perfect opportunity to introduce them to some of the mammals, calling it home.

There is lots to do on a farm visit, with activities ranging from petting and feeding the animals, to picking chicken eggs, enjoying off-road bike trails, and picking fall fruit like apples.

Here are some great farms you and your family can explore.

The Amish Farm and House in Lancaster, PA

The nearly 300-year-old Amish Farm and House is open to visitors from outside the Amish community. If you’re unfamiliar with the local traditions and way of life, visiting this farm is an insightful experience.

While you learn about the daily chores and things that happen on a farm, you also get to enjoy other unique experiences. These include baby goat yoga, field trips and a tour of the old Amish schoolhouse on the premises. Other activities include the popular corn maze, an audio tour, scooter race, and the kid’s farm zone. You could also watch the resident artisan work his magic in crafting spectacular designs by hand.

Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, GA

The 80-year-old family- and veteran-run farm has seen many generations continue working and caring for the farm. Apart from being an apple farm, it is also home to strawberries, peaches, blackberries, and delicious blueberries.

The farm is service dog-friendly because the farm adheres to the American Disabilities Act (ADA). The service dogs are welcome in the orchard, café, and the market.

Mercier Orchards is packed with activities for the whole family. One of the most popular things to do on the farm is enjoy the U-pick tractor tours. The tour allows visitors to pick their apples on the farm, an immersive experience.

Visitors can also enjoy the café and market and try some freshly baked goods and sweets. There is an apparel and souvenir shop, and you can get some novelties before you head home.

Johnson’s Farm in Medford, NJ

Johnson’s Farm is a delight for locals and visitors. There are seasonal specials to give you the joys of harvests and the beauty of the farm. If you enjoy homemade food, then you will enjoy the foods offered at Johnson’s Farm, such as hearty pies, cider donuts, and yummy ice cream.

Johnson’s Farm has field trips centered around every season giving you something to do all year round. You can arrange a birthday party or other event for your little one, enjoy a U-Pick ride, hayrides and egg hunts.

Sugarbush Farm in Woodstock, VT

Sugarbush Farm was established in 1948 by Marion and Jake Ayres, who specialized in crafting maple syrup. This family-run establishment is renowned for produce like dairy (spreads, cheese), homemade fudge, honey, sauces, mustard, and smoked meats that delightfully pair with locally produced cheeses, maple products and more.

Apart from enjoying the delicious and fresh foods, there are many activities for families visiting with children. There are frequent sugarhouse tours on the premises, and folks can experience the cheese workroom and enjoy nature walks. The farm’s website hosts an online shop for fresh, locally produced foods.
