Kangana Ranaut was born in Bhambla, a town in Mandi District Hamachi Pradesh, on 23rd March 1986. Amardeep Ranaut, her father, is an entrepreneur, while Asha Ranaut, her mother, is a school teacher. She has a younger brother, Akshat, and a sister, Rangoli Chandel, who started working as her manager in 2014.

As a young girl, Ranaut did not conform to the stereotypes her parents and neighbors expected her to. She did unconventional things like pairing accessories and outfits not many people were used to seeing.

She grew up in Dehra Dunand, attended DAV’s High School, Chandigarh, and took science as a core subject. She wanted to be a doctor but failed a Chemistry Unit test in 12th grade, which made her think about her career choices more.

While she prepared for the All-India Pre-Medical test, she did not take it and ended up moving to Delhi at 16. This resulted in a feud with her parents, and her dad said he would not finance a career path he termed aimless.
