Each fashion week, international fashion houses compete to have the most memorable show. In September 2023, Fendi presented their take on styles for the upcoming season. The biggest trend takeaway? Orange is where it’s at.

In a nod to the bold colors of the 1970s, Fendi models walked the runway wearing bright shades ranging from juicy papaya to subtler peach and coral.

While skeptics may believe that orange is too bright for everyday wear, we’re here to give you ideas to incorporate orange into your wardrobe. Let’s explore how to find orange pieces you love and pair them with your existing clothes to make flattering, on-trend outfits for 2024.

Exploring Orange

One of the best things about color is its incredible versatility. Within every color on the spectrum, there are ways to adjust the shade so it complements different skin undertones.

The first step in finding orange shades that work for you is learning about your skin’s undertone. Are you a warm, cool, or neutral? Makeup artists say the best way to figure it out is to consider how your skin reacts to the sun.

If you burn, you’re likely a cool undertone

If you tan quickly, you’re probably a warm undertone

If your burn turns into a tan later, you’re a neutral undertone.

From there, do some experimenting with oranges that work for your undertone. If you have a warm undertone, you may want to explore darker oranges like clay, terracotta, or burnt orange. For a cool undertone, try marigold, persimmon, salmon, or even cantaloupe orange. If you’re neutral, pick a few colors and experiment!

Ideas To Use Orange in Your Wardrobe

Once you’ve found a few shades that work for your skin tone, you can experiment with orange clothes and accessories that complement your style. Here are a few of our favorite ways to use orange in your wardrobe.

The Head-To-Toe Color Splash

Not afraid of going bold? Picking an outfit made of a few different orange shades that pair well together is a great way to make a statement during your next outing or event. If you want to take inspiration from the runway, we love some of these Fendi outfits with matching orange gloves, dress, and purse.

Bold Color Blocking

Another great way to include some bold color is by selecting a few key pieces and pairing them with subtler accents. We recommend a bold skirt with a neutral top or a sleek orange silk shell underneath a more conservative pantsuit.

Subtle Accessories

If you aren’t ready to do an all-orange outfit, start by incorporating subtle orange accents into your wardrobe. Accessories are a fantastic way to dip your toes into a trend without committing to a full-blown wardrobe overhaul. Consider adding a pop of orange with a vibrant handbag, scarf, or even sneakers.

These small touches add a playful and trendy element to any ensemble without overwhelming your overall look. Some orange stones we suggest include citrine, garnets, or even the padparadscha sapphire, a rare and gorgeous variety available in bold orange shades. You can opt for a gold or silver setting depending on your skin’s undertone and preferences.

Whether you go all out with a head-to-toe orange ensemble or opt for subtle accessories, the key is to wear it with confidence. Orange is a bold and expressive color that can instantly boost your mood and make a statement. Experiment, have fun, and let your personal style shine through!
