Mala Adiga has achieved the coveted distinction of being appointed by the US President Joe Biden as the Policy Director for his wife, Jill Biden. At the time of that appointment of Mala, Joe Biden was President-Elect. News on Mala Adiga informs that she was a Senior Adviser to Jill Biden and Senior Policy Adviser for Joe Biden’s 2020 Presidential campaign.

According to the US Department of State’s website, Mala Adiga is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programs. In this official capacity, she is responsible for overseeing a wide range of international educational programs, which includes the Fulbright and Gilman Programs.

About Mala Adiga

Mala, whose father Dr. Ramesh Adiga migrated to the US after completing his medical education, was born in the US.

She began her career in law as a Litigation Associate way back in 2002. Mala is not new to working in high echelons of administration. During Obama’s tenure, she served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programmes at the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. She worked in the Secretary of State’s Office of Global Women’s Issues as Chief of Staff and Senior Adviser to the Ambassador-at-Large.
