One of the best known sportswomen in India, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu has won many badminton titles across the globe. She was the first woman from India to win a silver medal at the Olympics and gold at the BWF World Championships. Born July 5, 1995, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, PV Sindhu (Pusarla Venkata Sindhu) was the daughter of two Indian national players of volleyball. She had attraction to badminton, however, rather than volleyball. By the her age of eight years, she was playing regularly. She began training at the academy in Sucerdaband. Her badminton career began in her early life.

Pullela Gopichand saw her in action, and she soon was a member of the badminton academy of Gopichand, filled with inspiration. She would soon compete in international badminton, after winning junior badminton titles such as the All India Ranking Championship and the Sub-Junior Nationals.

She earned the Bronze medal for the Asian Badminton Championships as a Sub-Junior in 2009. Her premier international title in a senior category was at the 2011 Malaysian Internationals. Earning a place in the runner-up position, Sinhu succeeded at the 2012 National Badminton Championships for the Senior level.

Winning medals in the years that followed her 2012 win, Sindhu won a silver medal in Rio at the Olympics, held in 2016. She looked forward to Tokyo in 2020 after that. “Silver Sidhu” went on to become the World Champion in 2019. Her Indian resilience and mental abilities led to her acceptance of a Tokyo bronze medal, which gave her the record of being the first woman from India to win not just one, but two medals in the Olympics.
