Sweet potatoes are rich in fiber, and loaded with vitamin A, B6 and, C. A good source of antioxidants, these tubers have a positive impact on gut, brain, and eye health.

Sesame seeds are tiny oil-rich seeds that are nutrient dense, and a rich source of plant protein. These seeds are believed to reduce inflammation and support bone health.

These sweet potato and sesame balls are tender spheres delicately seasoned with aromatic spices and herbs. Each bite offers a harmonious balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients for Sweet Potato and Sesame Balls

2 large, sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed

1/2 cup sesame seeds, toasted

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to your taste)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Pinch of salt

Cooking oil

Steps

Boil or steam the sweet potato cubes until they are tender and can be easily mashed with a fork. This takes about 15-20 minutes.

Drain the cooked sweet potatoes and transfer them to a mixing bowl. Mash the sweet potatoes using a fork or potato masher until smooth.

Add the sesame seeds, all-purpose flour, honey or maple syrup, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt to the mashed sweet potatoes. Mix until well combined and you get a smooth dough.

Take small portions of the sweet potato dough, roll them into balls about 1 inch in diameter and coat with toasted sesame seeds.

Heat cooking oil in a deep-frying pan or skillet over medium heat.

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the sweet potato balls to the hot oil in batches. Make sure you do not overcrowd the pan.

Fry the sweet potato balls until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides (it takes about 3-4 minutes per batch).

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried sweet potato balls from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain off any excess oil.

Allow the sweet potato and sesame balls to cool slightly before serving.

Serve the sweet potato and sesame balls warm as a snack or dessert.
