
Ayesha Jalal is a professor of history at Tufts University. Her research focuses on the history of Muslim women and gender in the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. She has written extensively on Pakistani women’s lives, Muslim women’s activism in India and Bangladesh, and the impact of globalization on Muslim women.

Ayesha Jalal is also an author. She has published numerous books on the history of Pakistan, and her most well-known work is “The Sole Spokesman: Jinnah, the Muslim League and the Demand for Pakistan.”
The Sole Spokesman: Jinnah, the Muslim League and the Demand for Pakistan by Ayesha Jalal is a book that investigates the life of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of modern-day Pakistan. It casts new light on his character and career in general, as well as the origins of Pakistan.
Ayesha Jalal is currently a member of the International Advisory Committee, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lahore School of Management Sciences (LUMS). She has been a faculty member at the Department of English for many years and served as its head for three years. She has also been an associate professor in English in the Department of Social Sciences at LUMS.
