When Shubhra Prakash began performing on stage during her school days in India, she knew the theater was where she belonged. In her U.S. high school she continued to find solace on stage.

Today, Prakash is co-founder of a theater company in New York that provides a platform to South Asian performers. Prakash is also a playwright, with her latest offering “Fontwala” telling the story of her uncle. Prakash’s uncle designed a keyboard to enable users to type in Hindi using the standard English keys.

This compelling story has become a solo theatre play in English, an ensemble play in Hindi, a digital exhibition and is on its way to become a documentary.
