In 1976, Nadar noticed that only a few companies in India manufactured computers. He then decided to start his own venture. The Uttar Pradesh government bought 26% of this company’s shares after it was impressed by Nadar’s vision. This government wanted Nadar to name the company Uttar Pradesh Computers Limited, but Nadar named it Hindustan Computers Limited, HCL. HCL technologies first focused on manufacturing indigenous computers. Later, it grew to a software company offering various services and software solutions.
HCL Technologies is now one of the top information technology companies in India. It has various innovation laboratories and delivery centers that offer services to aerospace, banking, automotive and insurance companies. HCL also offers services to hospitality, mining, manufacturing, logistics and transportation companies.
